My next hosts, Walter and Lisbeth Luethi drove all the way from Kufstein to Herrsching to pick me up. We all went to Andechs for lunch.

My first Servas Hosts in Europe, Gabi and Rainer Guggenberger, and their two sons Martin and Matthias, welcomed me to their comfortable home in Herrsching for a taste of Bavarian life.

Time out in Munich

When I came to Europe in 2005, I made the mistake of going to stay with my first host, Rosella in Milano, straight off the plane. Not a good idea. I was a total wipe out for the first few days.
This time I was able to chill out on my own for two days at the wonderful Hotel Kriemhild in a leafy suburb, with tulips and apple blossoms, just one tram stop before the Schloss Nymphenberg. It was so easy to find and the city centre was very accessible by tram.
Despite choosing the hotel on the internet (with Venere.com) from far away Coromandel, my choice was spot on.
It was quiet, very clean, very comfortable and the buffet breakfast set a very high standard which has yet to be beaten! (Thats as far as hotel breakfasts go.)

Not Wanted on Voyage

I have decided to post the photos that I have, while I have the opportunity, then tell of my adventures later.
My 24-hour stopover in Singapore Changi Airport was very enjoyable despite the nervous energy I wasted, wondering how my unaccompanied check-in baggage would find its way to Munich without me.
I did think my experiences would make a good story for a magazine (no one else seems to have written about it) but unfortunately my camera ran out of battery power at just the wrong moment and I had no charger with me. It was in my check in baggage! Not a very professional start to my travel writing career. I am sure this mere detail can be overcome somehow.
So there are not many photos of Singapore but I can thoroughly recommend it as a stopover.

Buon giorno di Milano

It has taken me some time to get used to all these foreign computers. Nothing is where it ought to be! I have not got around to writing any more about my travels but I have been keeping notes and more will be forthcoming. Meantime, suffice to say my hosts are wonderful and the weather is gorgeous and gets better as I continue my journey west into the sunset! The further south I go the temperature rises.
Next week France and I can swap my Italian phrase book for my French dictionary. I have been getting all three languages confused at times. If one doesnt work I try another!
Successfully so far.
Now I will try adding a photo.
It is of Jennie and I lunching in a very typical Melbourne lane. She has a new job which started this week and so far so good, she is enjoying it.

Lest we forget!

Would you believe on my first train in Italy from Verona to Milano, I forgot to
compost my billet! The guard was very kind. I pleaded ignorance so escaped
a fine and he wrote the date on my ticket for me. I was lucky he was
feeling generous.
